Each EU Presidency, according to tradition, hosts an EU Biodiversity and Nature Directors’ Meeting, which aims to establish the priority steps for the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy, as well as to shape the operating trends of the European Commission committees and the EU Council working groups in the field of the biodiversity.

The EU Biodiversity and Nature Directors’ Meeting in Vilnius  is open to representatives of all EU Member States, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, as well as to officials of the European Commission, representatives of the European Environmental Agency, non-governmental environmental organisations and research institutions.

On the first day of the Meeting the working sessions will be held. The participants will discuss relevant issues concerning the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy. Moreover, the Meeting will run, for the first time, a joint session with the EU Water and Marine Directors. During this joint session the connections between the implementation of water, marine, biodiversity and nature policies will be discussed.

On the second day, participants will visit Neris Regional Park, where they will be introduced to practical examples of biodiversity protection in Lithuania.
